We have products with a "starter" and then "refills". Starters are priced a bit higher because they include additional items. Currently if a customer were to subscribe to this product, they'd pay for the full starter every month instead of paying the starter price once, then the refills monthly. Product swap automation should be able to change the variant and that variants price. If it does, it's not reflected in the reoccurring charges section of checkout.

I just realized how you can achieve this. We have recently released a new feature that allow multiple tier of discounts. So, while configuring subscription plan, you should set a discount of $29.75 off for 1st cycle onwards. If you don that, your customers would see following screenshot while they are buying a subscription.

It's working exactly how you mentioned. However, Shopify won't let us update the checkout page. You can tell you customers about it on the product page.
